5 Holiday Trends for Your Home This Year

While the holiday season is typically an exciting time to celebrate traditions, there is still room for current trends, especially when it comes to decorating your home for the holidays. Whether you choose to celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hannukah, or just enjoy some extra winter cheer, here are some of the recent trends we have noticed this year when it comes to decorating your home for the holidays.

Vintage is In

Good news for those of you who have saved your grandparent’s old holiday favorites! According to a recent Etsy trend report, vintage kitchen pieces are one of the hottest holiday trends of the year, with shoppers showing an 85% increase in searches for vintage mixing bowls, 26% increase in retro décor, and a lot of vintage Santa mugs and kitschy décor pieces. To get this look, try using retro, wacky décor pieces. The more eccentric the better.

Smaller Trees for Small Spaces

Most of the time, a lot of holiday decorations can feel overwhelming and grand, but with the rising trend of minimalist or tiny living, smaller Christmas trees can be the way to go. Rising costs for live Christmas trees are also forcing a lot of people to opt for the smaller option as well. In homes with limited space, a half-wall or corner tree is your best bet. A smaller tree also means less ornaments, leaving room to play around with different themes each year.

Natural Inspiration

This year, the trend seems to be focusing on going back to the basics with winter whites, classic creams, and nature-inspired themes. For those who love colors, you can still stay on trend, but instead of grabbing bold reds and pinks, you can opt for more muted greens and other shades that you can find out in nature. Christmas Tree World, an online retailer, reported that Christmas gnomes are the biggest decoration trend of 2022 with 9.5 million TikTok views and more than 540,800 Google searches.

Opting for a Cozy Aesthetic

After spending so much time at home during the pandemic, many people are choosing to give their homes a cozy, welcoming vibe, and this aesthetic is spilling over into holiday decorating as well. Many people are opting out of the hectic and frantic stress of the holiday season and choosing to create holiday sanctuaries instead. So, find the softest holiday blankets, play some classic Christmas music, and enjoy a cozy night at home this holiday season!

Get Festive with Artificial Florals

One trend that is here to stay year after year is opting to use artificial florals over the pricey, fresh bouquets. Plants and flowers that work great for the winter season are Poinsettias, blue perennials, lilies, or any type of greenery, and make for great center pieces for the table or placed in vases throughout the home. Incorporating natural elements in your home is a simple way to create a cozy feel during the season.

Of course, there is no right or wrong way to decorate for the holiday season and there are so many ways to fill your home with holiday cheer and make it a peaceful place to retreat to during the busy holiday season. We would love to hear what other holiday decorating tips and trends you have used to decorate your home this holiday season!
